Turning Toward Purpose
Iād love to introduce you to my friend, Heather Love. Heather left a corporate career in pharmaceuticals to claim space for herself and what she loves to do and has not looked back since.
Heather is a Dharma Coach, a Jazzercise instructor and has her own podcast which you may have heard when she interviewed me a few weeks ago - For the Love of Dharma. It was such a pleasure to chat with Heather - so let's get to it.
Some of the key takeaways from this episode include:
1. New role, same problems - If you are someone that is seeking purpose and wants change within corporate what tends to happen is we just switch into new roles within the same company hoping to find that. However, what you soon find out is it's just the same experience with a different title. It may be time to examine your own mindset.
2. Make space - When you've decided that you're really kind of done chasing the whole corporate thing you can start to clear out some of the mental clutter and detach yourself. When you make space like this you can start to explore what excites you, what drives you and that will be so beneficial once you make that leap.
3. Consider the Before and after - When you leave behind the grind of working for someone else and start to be excited and open to life and to loving what you are doing - your everyday life can have a complete metamorphosis
4. Take time - If and when you break up with corporate, take a breath, reset, learn, give your mind and body some rest, and then go about planning your new venture.
5. What do you love? - Take time to reconnect to the things you love, no matter what it might be. Dance, art, music, theater, flowers, baking, whatever lights you up. Grounding yourself with these things allows other areas of your life to flourish
You can find Heather on Instagram @IamHeatherLove - introduce yourself, tell her you found her from the podcast and start growing your network. There's an amazing community of women out there that I get to talk to all the time that are just waiting to cheer you on.
