Overcoming Perfectionism to Find True Success

What even is perfect?! Besides being a major cause of burnout it's often what stands in the way of women making a successful transition into entrepreneurship. In this episode, You will learn that trusting yourself is more important than being perfect...

In this episode, Fanny talks about how it took the diagnosis of thyroid cancer, when her daughter was just six months old, that finally gave her the push she needed toward fully living a life she was excited about.

Today, Fanny McShane is no longer staring at financial statements as an accountant but is a certified life coach and hypnotherapist who has a passion for helping women recognize their worth and find their purpose in life.

Key moments in the conversation include:

  • Is this an expectation or is this my passion? Other people will always have opinions on what they think you should be doing. But ask yourself, is this my passion or I am I doing this out of some sort of obligation? If sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day sends you screaming then probably not something you want to keep as your career.

  • Don't let life pass you by. It shouldn't take a health crisis, a cancer diagnosis to remind us that life is short. Figure out what you enjoy doing and go do more of that. Break the patterns in your family. Face the fear of the unknown. And start today!

  • Heal yourself to heal others. A lot of coaches get started by healing themselves first. Once that knowledge and experience leads to transformation it's natural to want to help those around you.

  • Don't quit before you even get started. Excuses and doubts can be built up in our head and really the reality may be something different. Whether it's the conversation you're avoiding with your spouse or the fear of something new - what are you making it out to be? And how are you allowing that fear to keep you stuck.

  • Find who you are outside of work.
