When Your Business Model is Out of Alignment
What happens when you reach your business goals only to discover it's not what you actually wanted? You've created this thing that started out being fun but now, it totally drains you. Uh...what now?
Nicole quit her desk job when her baked goods started taking off at her local farmer's market. She'd managed to create treats that were gluten free, dairy free, whole foods - the whole bit but that tasted like dessert. And although sales were booming she knew she'd have to scale in order to replace her income and decided on an energy bar that was a customer favorite.
In this episode we get an inside look at how she was able to scale this energy bar to 300 stores across Canada. She's a big proponent of doing things messy and she learned on the fly and navigated food safety, commercial kitchens, scaling a product and all the things.
What she began to realize that each step further toward "success" she was further removed from what she really loved about her business in the first place - the people. We get into the details of what she was feeling at the time she had this realization, how she handled it and the burnout that led her to close down and walk away from the business she had built.
Nicole has poured everything she's learned into others as a business coach, speaker and business professor. Her latest adventure is a podcast, "Goals and Gratitude" and true to form, she's figuring it out as she goes.
